TO ALL INSURANCE COMPANIES CHECKING OUT MY WEBSITE: These & all pictures on this website are OLD! & represent a historic gallery going back 16 years. We haven’t had bands, dart board, 1960’s style go go dancer or live DJ in 8 years. We’ve never had a dance floor. The go-go booth is now a “selfie” booth, that customers take their pictures in.

Charles Hanson Loves you and says welcome to my bar!

Originally from New Orleans, Charles came up to NYC in 1978 with the seminal NOLa Punk band "The Normals" asone of two singer/guitarist/songwriters. The band's music has recently been re-released and released for the first time, on Last Laugh Records out of Brooklyn.

Charles went on to form Phila 80's r&b/synth band "The Vels" as multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter, and signed to Mercury/PolyGram Records. Two albums and multiple 12 inch dance singles were released, including a 11 week, number 39 Bill Board dance charter "Look My Way". A video for the song was filmed in London and received air play on MTV.

Working as a NYC club soundman for 25 years at such clubs as Lime Lite, Cat Club, CBGB, Marquee, Woody's, Beowulff & Pyramid. Charles took up semi-professional bicycle racing during the Lance Armstrong era, eventually started working as a bike messenger as training. After a roof deck messenger party, Charles was hit by a limo. While laid up with a broken knee and shoulder, the idea of becoming a proffesional DJ first crossed his mind and as soon as he could walk, this he did, with success. It was while working as a DJ at the 169 Bar that the opportunity arose to purchase the bar and with the insurance money from the limo hit, he made it happen!! The rest is history!

Laissez les bons temps rouler!!
